On Computational Procedures for Processing Uncertainties in Structural Mechanics
A quantitative assessment of uncertainties in load, geometrical and material properties by using probabilistic and stochastic analysis is discussed. This allows a rational determination of the propagation of uncertainties through structural systems and ultimately reliability assessment.
متن کاملFrom Random Matrix Theory to Statistical Mechanics - Anyon Gas
Motivated by numerical experiments and studies of quantum systems which are classically chaotic, we take a Random Matrix description of a Hardsphere gas to Statistical Mechanical description. We apply this to Anyon gas and obtain a formal expression for the momentum distribution. Various limiting situations are discussed and are found in agreement with the well-known results on Hard-sphere gas ...
متن کاملRandom Matrix Theory and Classical Statistical Mechanics . I . Vertex Models
A connection between integrability properties and general statistical properties of the spectra of symmetric transfer matrices of the asymmetric eight-vertex model is studied using random matrix theory (eigenvalue spacing distribution and spectral rigidity). For Yang-Baxter integrable cases, including free-fermion solutions, we have found a Poissonian behavior, whereas level repulsion close to ...
متن کاملMaximum entropy approach for modeling random uncertainties in transient elastodynamics.
A new approach is presented for analyzing random uncertainties in dynamical systems. This approach consists of modeling random uncertainties by a nonparametric model allowing transient responses of mechanical systems submitted to impulsive loads to be predicted in the context of linear structural dynamics. The information used does not require the description of the local parameters of the mech...
متن کاملComputational modeling of ligament mechanics.
This article provides a critical review of past and current techniques for the computational modeling of ligaments and tendons. A brief overview of relevant concepts from the fields of continuum mechanics and finite element analysis is provided. The structure and function of ligaments and tendons are reviewed in detail, with emphasis on the relationship of microstructural tissue features to the...
